See All Concerts > Oxford Bach Choir
Though both innovative and contemporary, this masterpiece is yet firmly in the tradition of the great masses, notably Verdi’s, to whom Britten pays tribute. Its themes, message and musical power, with poetry about WW1 and dedicated to fallen friends in WW2, are as relevant today as when Britten first wrote it. Nicholas Cleobury, who worked with the War Requiem’s first tenor Peter Pears, will lead the Oxford Bach Choir, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, soloists and Christ Church Cathedral Choristers in a stunning performance in Oxford’s Town Hall.
Pre-concert event at 7pm. Concert ends 9.30pm. Please note there will be no interval in this performance. Latecomers will not be admitted.
