Mozart Piano Concerto no 9 in E flat K271
Haydn Symphony no 98 in B flat
Mozart Piano Concerto no 24 in C minor K491
We’re enormously excited to bring an additional concert to the Sheldonian this season: András Schiff is to perform as director and soloist with the outstanding musicians of the OAE.
The programme features Mozart Piano Concertos No 9 (described by Alfred Brendel as 'one of the greatest wonders of the world') and 24, one of Mozart's most inspired and mature. Haydn’s Symphony No 98, one of the celebrated London Symphonies, completes the evening.
A masterful performer, András will undoubtedly bring interesting nuances to these perennial favourites of the classical repertoire. His recording of the Mozart concertos has long been highly recommended and his enthusiasm for Haydn’s work continues here, with him taking the continuo keyboard part. Tickets for his last performance here, with the Philharmonia in 2009, sold extraordinarily well so please do book early to avoid disappointment.
